The author shows the vector concept arising and development, its transformation into multi-purpose tool effectively used in physics, geometry and algebra. The vector concept development process presented in the paper illustrates the arising of elementary (primitive) traits of this concept that were improved directionally because of their relevance in physics problem solving. The appliance of extension methods proper to mathematics enabled to expand the capabilities of vector concept to the extent that vectors acquired the properties of versatile tool productively used for many practical and theoretical problems solving.
