Editorial Board and Editor-in-Chief of the journal Ekonomicheskie i sotsial’no-gumanitarnye issledovaniya (ESGI) are committed to publication ethics principles adopted by international community, notably presented in Guidelines of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and of Russian Association of Science Editors and Publishers’ Ethics Board; they also take advantage of valuable experience of respected international journals and publishing houses.
In order to avoid unfair practice in publication activities (plagiarism, statement of unreliable information etc.) and to ensure high quality of scientific publications and recognition of authors’ scientific results by the public, each member of Editorial Board, author, reviewer, editor, and each of organizations participating in publishing process must observe ethical standards, norms and rules and take all reasonable measures to prevent their violation. The observance of scientific publication’s ethical rules by all participants of this process contributes to assurance of authors’ intellectual property right, to improvement of publications’ quality and eliminates the possibility of author’s materials unlawful use for the convenience of particular persons.
Editorial team reserves the right to decide against publication of a paper in the event that below-specified rules are violated.
Principles to which the science publication author should comply
Author (or group of authors) is aware of his / her / their primary responsibility for novel nature and reliability of scholarly results, which is premised on the observance of following principles:
- the authors of a paper must provide reliable results of undertaken study; demonstrably wrong or fabricated statements are unacceptable;
- the authors must guarantee full originality of research results stated in the manuscript they provide, it being understood that borrowed fragments or statements must be presented as citations, with obligatory reference to primary author(s) and source, while excess borrowing, as well as any form of plagiarism, including text copying without source attribution, text recycling or misappropriation of other’s research results, are unethical and unacceptable;
- the contributorship of all persons who influenced in some way or other the study progress, must be acknowledged; notably, the paper must contain references to works relevant to the pursuance of research;
- the authors must not provide to the journal a manuscript sent to another journal and being under consideration there nor a paper already published in another journal;
- all persons who contributed considerably to the pursuance of research must be listed as paper’s co-authors, with that it is unacceptable to list among co-authors the persons who did not participate in the research;
- if the author detects significant errors or inaccuracies in the paper on the stage of its consideration or after its publication, he / she must notify the editorial team of that as soon as possible.
Publication ethics violations
Should there be situation related to publication ethics violation on the part of editor, author or reviewer, mandatory investigation is required. This is applicable to published as well as unpublished materials. Editorial Board must require explanation with no involvement of persons who might have conflict of interest with either party.
The ESGI journal editorial team protects authors’ reputation and is attentive to all cases of plagiarism detection in the papers. For the sake of objectivity the editorial team investigates thoroughly each case and considers the reasons of all parties involved.
Before taking any future action the Editorial Board endeavors to obtain the most accurate information possible from the authors of publication at issue or from copyright holder and studies it. Editorial team’s judgment is impartial, objective and not influenced by third parties.
The ESGI journal editorial team reserves the right to be without responding to plagiarism claims if the accuser provides unreliable personal information or acts in unethical or threatening way. Editorial team has no obligation to submit for discussion the cases of supposed plagiarism with persons not having a direct relationship to it.
