In the dynamics and geographical structure of foreign trade relations of the European Union, the author examines the current trends that have emerged over the past three years on the eve of the completion of the procedure for the UK's exit from the bloc (brexit) at the end of January 2020. The author considers the most significant phenomena at the global and regional levels such as increasing uncertainty and tension, and turbulence in international trade. He also highlights the mainstream: the expansion of protectionist sentiments, the spread of sanctions measures against leading competitors under the guise of political rhetoric, including the deployment of sanctions by the European Union against Eastern European partners, including Russia. The author claims that all these trends could not but have a noticeable impact on changes in the foreign trade of the European Union, and he makes calculations of a number of indicators of exports and imports of the countries of this integration bloc.
