Since 2012, Russia has consistently implemented a program to reform the higher education system. Training of engineering personnel has always been of strategic importance for our country. The imperatives of the fourth industrial revolution taking place in the world, the modernization of the Russian economy, the «industrial Renaissance» and import substitution – all these factors make Engineering education the subject of particularly close attention of the state. The sociological research conducted by the authors of this article aims to assess the effectiveness of the passed stages of the reform, from the point of view of correlating the intermediate results of the reform with the goals and objectives manifested by its initiators.
