The article has been devoted to the philosophical study of various interpretations of the category of “soft power” in modern humanitarian knowledge. The author analyzes the relationship between the category of “soft power” and such concepts as “smart power”, “soft power”, “hard power”, “flexible power”, strategic resource, political and sociocultural influence. The emphasis has been made on the fact that there are three main elements of “soft power”: the attractiveness of culture, political ideology, and developed diplomacy. It has been concluded that the concept of “soft power” cannot fundamentally be considered comprehensively developed due to the impossibility of formulating a single interpretation and highlighting the generally recognized structure of this phenomenon, as well as a wide variety of national features of the application of “soft power” methods in the modern world.
