The author observes that current world environmental situation prompts a reassessment and a new awareness of all possible forms of interaction: between people and with the environment. The author considers nature as pantry of resources for human development — intellectual, physical, and spiritual. The way out of the ecological crisis is seen in the mastery of new axiological and normative relationship making it possible to overcome the alienation of man from nature. The author exposes the integrative function of ecology, its concepts, approaches and attitudes in the synthesis of modern scientific knowledge. It is shown that the synthesis of ecological knowledge is a reflection of the interaction of value factors of the epoch and scientific knowledge, a prerequisite for the unity of epistemology and axiology.
