The author did consider main trends in the formation of the non-state education system from the 10th to the middle of the 19th century, showing the private education reflecting flexibly and quickly the changing demands of society and state for book knowledge expansion and deepening. The author did emphasize the role of private education in secularization, liberalization, de-ideologization of education, in expansion of educational environment accessible to the middle class, as well as its meaning for formation of the social structure of Russian society. The author has mapped back private education connection to political and legal regulation of the state.
