The author traces the history of ecological problem discussion at international scale from second half of 20th century to the first decade of 21st century. He did consider the interrelation of social, cultural and ecological problems. Special attention was paid to perception of global problems of Modern Age, to the environmental awareness, to understanding of environmental safety, to the emergence of the concept of sustainable development, to greening of science and education, and to the formation of prerequisites and conditions of civilization of the future — ecological civilization — from the standpoint of ecology’s declarative statements.
