Based on the study of nobiliary service in the first quarter of 18th century, new requirements to nobility’s emolument and reward for their service are considered. It is shown what object the State was pursuing and how the nobiliary estate did perceive this policy. The principal achievements of Peter the Great’s policy are revealed, namely: the money wages’ establishment; the completion of country-seats’ merging with patrimonies, and the widening of nobiliary activity circle. It is noted that Peter’s reforms had significantly influenced the nobility’s landowning situation change.
Keywords: civil service; emolument; nobiliary estate; country-seat; patrimony; manor; wage; Peter the Great’s reforms.
