The authors have performed the socially-philosophical analysis of communicative function of religion in the context of overcoming the crisis of identity which is a bright characteristic feature of a personality in transitional period. The connection between notions “communication”, “identity”, “identification” and others has been analyzed. The factors which lead to arising of crisis of identity in transitional period of social development have been investigated. The accent was made on the problem of breaking of communicative links in society in connection with loosing stable scale of values. The authors conclude that in this context religion (and Christianity, first of all)
may give the most stable humanistic values which can provide qualitative and various social links (both religious and non-religious) and be the background of overstepping of identity crisis for every member of society.
