The definitions and characteristics for concept of tradition in education are given, the main directions of its rendering are considered. The choice of tradition’s balanced representation is set forth. The subjects of teacher’s moral ideal formation and of legitimacy of parallel drawing between Peter the Great’s reforms time and present day are touched upon. Pedagogic traditions appeared at different stages of Russia’s historic development and their role in educational process of their time and in modern Russian education’s substantial content are analyzed.
