The author analyzes the ideal of freedom and such its aspect as personality and society correlation. Usually the problem of freedom is considered from the standpoint of personality’s individual wishes’ opposition to the society requirements limiting the freedom. However there is another point of view on freedom as on possibility of personality’s self-actualization in harmonic interaction with its environment. The author did show that personality’s opposition to society gives rise to extreme individualism capable of personality’s de-individualization no less than extreme collectivism, and have proposed to understand the ideal of freedom as the possibility of personality’s constructive self-realization.
