The author discusses the new role of information in the information economy, characteristic for the era of post-industrialism. Along with indisputable advantages in handling, storage, use and transmission of information by electronic means he accentuates its economic uncertainty, redundancy, inconsistency and approximation that require the use of axiological approach to its analysis and processing in order to optimize the management in modern economic systems. Special emphasis was on the need for unity of information, organization and management.
