The authors discussed the question of improvement of students’ independent work on mathematical disciplines in the circumstances where this kind of work increases against the classroom work. They have proposed to put more emphasis on the tasks connecting disciplines from different semesters and having economical contents. They have given as an example the problem of approximating experimental data and have shown for specific data values the different data processing methocs including generation of linear trend, regression analysis, and smoothing of
temporal series.
