The author claims the Cartesian coordinate system appellation by the name of Descartes to be a simulacrum. Considering the process of the original Descartes’ concept of coordinate system replacement with the concept proposed by Pascal, the author proves the mythological character of the selected image: Descartes position in thinking subject’s mind tends to replace the one of the Father. The author discusses the use of Descartes name as a pattern to simulacra creation and building.
