Studying the reasons of classical anthropocentrism, related to bygone century’s dramatic experience as well as to newest technology development, and ways to overcome it, the author marks out the break points of borderlines between human and nonhuman, animal-human and machine. The author follows up in retrospect the historical vision of human embodiment, from Cartesian body mechanism to modern construct, a cyborg — hybrid of machine and organism, a social construction. Finally the author denotes the problem of searching new place for man inside natural and subject relations where he is not leader anymore.
Keywords: Descartes; postmodernism; cyborg; body presentation; human limits.
